Where To Stay in Seville
The neighbourhood you choose changes your entire trip. Here's the honest breakdown.
Choose Your Neighbourhood
Santa Cruz / Historic Centre
€€€–€€€€Best for: first-timers
✓ Pros
- Walk everywhere — Alcázar, Cathedral, Plaza de España are minutes away
- Beautiful narrow streets
- Atmosphere at night
✗ Cons
- Expensive
- Noisy in summer (especially weekends)
- Very touristy — you'll mainly eat around tourists
Verdict: Worth it for a first visit, especially if you're only here 2-3 days. After that, you'll want a quieter base.
El Arenal
€€–€€€Best for: a mix of access and authenticity
✓ Pros
- Close to the Cathedral and Triana bridge
- More local feel than Santa Cruz
- The Maestranza bullring and the river are walkable
✗ Cons
- Less nightlife
- Some streets feel quiet/dark at night
Verdict: My personal recommendation for most travellers. You're close to everything but not IN the tourist bubble.
Triana
€–€€€Best for: those who want the real Seville
✓ Pros
- Authentic neighbourhood feel
- Best market in the city
- Local bars, ceramics workshops, the real deal
- Less crowded, slightly cheaper
✗ Cons
- 15-20 min walk to the main monuments
- Fewer hotel options (more apartments)
Verdict: If you've been to Seville before or want to live like a local — stay in Triana. You'll love it.
Nervión / Alameda
€–€€Best for: budget travellers and longer stays
✓ Pros
- More affordable
- Where real sevillanos live
- Good transport connections
- Less tourist noise
✗ Cons
- 30+ min walk to the historic centre
- Less photogenic
Verdict: Great for a week-long stay or if you're on a budget. Less atmosphere for a short trip.
Specific Hotel Picks
Hotel Casa 1800 Sevilla
★★★★★Santa Cruz
A 19th-century palace converted into a boutique hotel. The rooftop with Giralda views is something else. Expensive but earns it.
Hotel Colón Gran Meliá
★★★★★Centro
The classic grande dame of Seville hotels, right on Plaza Nueva. The kind of place where bullfighters used to stay. Gorgeous lobby, good location.
Hotel Posada del Lucero
★★★★Santa Cruz
In a 15th-century building literally inside the old city walls. Courtyard breakfast is one of the nicest in Seville.
Apartamentos Puerta Triana
★★★Triana
Self-catering apartments in the heart of Triana. Not fancy, but clean, well-located, and lets you live like a local. Good for families or longer stays.
