Hey, I'm Fernando.
Born in Seville. Now in Madrid. Still obsessed with both.
Seville is home. Not in the “I studied abroad here once” kind of way — I mean really home. I grew up here. My family still lives here. I went to school here, so I have been living in the city for years.
Most travel guides to Seville are written for tourists. Sevilla Unfiltered is written for people who want the real city. I grew up in Seville and lived here most of my life before moving to Madrid eight years ago. My family is still here, which means I come back constantly — and every visit reminds me how much the city has changed.
"The best guide to any city is someone who grew up there and left — they remember what was real before it became a brand."
Now you’ll find €5 coffees in neighbourhoods where old men still argue over football outside bars that haven’t changed in thirty years. You’ll see endless lists of “secret spots” that stopped being secret a decade ago.
So I started this blog to cut through the noise.
No generic itineraries. No fake hidden gems. No “Top 10 Things To Do” written by someone who’s never survived a Sevillian summer.
Just honest recommendations from someone who knows the city properly: where locals actually eat, what’s overrated, what’s worth the money, and how Seville really works once you get beyond the tourist version of it.
What you'll get here
- →Honest opinions — if something is a tourist trap, I'll say so
- →Practical advice based on how the city actually works (local lunch hours, heat management, etc.)
- →Affiliate links where relevant — clearly marked, only for things I'd actually use
- →Context about what Seville is actually like, not just a list of things to photograph
